What is Sound Asleep?

Sound Asleep is a deeply relaxing and restorative, 90 minute session where the positive benefits of Yoga Nidra are blended with those of a calming and relaxing gong and crystal bowl based sound bath.
Each practice on its own is hugely beneficial but by blending them together you get the situation where the outcome is more than just the sum of the parts. This is because you are already in a super relaxed state from the nidra by the time the sound bath starts.
The comments shared at the end of each session is a testimony to what a wonderful reset for mind, body and soul this session is.
To aid with your grounding before you head home I offer you a choice of herbal and caffeine free tees. You can stay or head or home but the chance to integrate and chat with others is a great opportunity to gracefully come round to the present moment.
All sessions are designed at some point to bring harmony and balance to all of these aspects that contribute to your health and wellbeing; physical and mental.

What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra, also known as ‘yogic sleep’, is a simplified form of an ancient tantric relaxation technique. The most general description of the practice is that it combines guided mental imagery with a specific yoga posture called Shavasana (or “corpse pose”) where you lay on your back with your arms and legs outstretched and slightly apart.
The goal of yoga nidra is to promote a profound state of relaxation, which differs from sleep inasmuch as there is still an awareness of one’s surroundings, your retain the use of your sense of hearing whilst turning off all the other senses.
During the session you will step through the sequence of settling into the space, affirming your “sankalpa” (this will be fully explained), rotation of consciousness, breath awareness, opposites, visualisations and a final affirmation of your “sankalpa” before moving into the sound bath.
What is a Sound Bath?
Ian plays gongs, crystal and himalayan bowls in a manner designed to induce deep relaxation and rest. The sounds ebb and flow that many have explained takes them on a peaceful journey into their unconscious mind. Where actual sleep is discouraged in Nidra, you may, if your body so chooses, fall asleep in the sound bath although the most benefit is typically obtained on that magical border between sleep and awake.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Bring with you the items shared above for your comfort plus an open mind and willing heart. It’s best to wear comfy layers of clothing and there’s no movement involved.
